How Fiber in Beans Is Calculated

The calculator uses a simple proportion based on the fiber content per 100 grams of cooked beans. Values are adapted from the USDA FoodData Central database, a reliable public source for nutrition information. The tool first converts your serving to grams (1 oz = 28.35 g; 1 cup cooked beans ≈ 170 g). It then divides the serving grams by 100 and multiplies by the fiber-per-100 g value for the selected bean.

Formula: Fiber (g) = (serving weight in grams ÷ 100) × fiber per 100 g

What if I use uncooked dried beans in the calculator? Dried beans weigh much less because they contain almost no water, so fiber per 100 g of dry beans is much higher than per 100 g of cooked beans.
